A summer in the desert? Bayern traveled to the training camp in Qatar on Friday. And there was a lot of speculation as to whether Nati goalie Yann Sommer (34) was already on board the Munich machine.
At the latest when you check in, it becomes clear: it isn’t. Bayern spend the training camp – at least for the time being – without a summer. Sven Ulreich (34), Johannes Schenk (19) and Tom Ritzy Hülsmann (18) are the keeper in Qatar.
However, the following still applies: Sommer would like to go to Bayern. He informed the Gladbach managers that way. And Bayern are also willing to get the 34-year-old to replace the injured Manuel Neuer (36).
Clarity by the end of January
But Oliver Kahn, former world-class keeper and current Bayern Munich CEO, reveals that this is not an easy task. At “Bild” he spoke about the goalie situation in Munich: “Hasan Salihamidzic, Julian Nagelsmann, Marco Neppe and I discuss different options without hectic. But replacing Manuel Neuer during the winter break is of course extremely difficult, especially since not many clubs want to give up their number 1. »
The sticking point: As long as Gladbach has not signed a successor for the summer, the Swiss goalie will not be able to switch to Bayern either.
There’s still some time left. The transfer window closes on January 31. Nine days earlier, Bayern started the second half of the season against Leipzig. With or without summer? That remains to be seen.
