What was that? You almost have to watch Arttu Ruotsalainen’s new super trick in slow motion to see what Kloten’s Finnish striker is celebrating. First, the 25-year-old tempted Zug defender Livio Stadler to screw up his positional play. Then he passes the puck to himself with a pass over the lower edge of the goal, stops the puck briefly with his skate and then sinks the backhand for a 2:1 lead.

With this puck art, Ruotsalainen contributes to the turnaround against EVZ, Kloten wins 4:2. His jubilation is correspondingly exuberant, and he and his teammates have big grins on their faces. “I was super happy that the trick worked,” said Ruotsalainen, “and this with such a big win.” The Finn reveals: “In the last few weeks I’ve only practiced it a few times in training.” And always without a goalie in the box.
