Moment of shock for Conor McGregor. The mixed martial artist was cycling in Ireland on Friday when he was hit from behind by a car. The 34-year-old suffered no serious injuries apart from a graze on his right hip.
McGregor posted several videos from the scene of the accident on social media. Visibly shocked, he says: “I could have been dead there!” The driver of the car immediately stopped and asked about the superstar.
In a second post, in which his wound can be seen, the Irishman describes the incident. The reason for the collision is said to have been the low sun. “The driver couldn’t see me. Right through me at full speed. Thank God it wasn’t my time.”
McGregor reports back from the car of the driver who picked him up after the accident. At the back of the vehicle he shows his wrecked bike. Still a little upset, but relieved, the martial artist says: “The most important thing is that I’m fine. That’s all that counts.” (mab)
