Mega deal pushed through and Ziyech change screwed up?
Enzo Fernandez’s move was a top priority at Chelsea, and the deal was signed just before midnight. But another burst because of bureaucratic negligence.

Enzo Fernandez (r.) Joins Chelsea for 121 million euros.
329.5 million – That’s how much Chelsea FC spent on eight newcomers in winter alone. Enzo Fernandez (22), best youngster at the World Cup in Qatar, is the latest achievement of the “Blues”. He comes from Benfica for 121 million euros, no Premier League club has ever paid that much for a player.
The transfer of what is now the fifth most expensive footballer in history (behind Neymar, Mbappé, Dembélé and Coutinho) was fixed shortly before midnight on Tuesday. The Londoners activated the exit clause of 120 million, but according to “Spox” had to add a million more so that they could pay off the mega sum in installments. 25 percent of it goes to River Plate, from where he only moved to the Portuguese capital in the summer of 2022 for 14 million.
Chelsea botch Ziyech deal
Chelsea spent nearly 330 million on new players in January compared to just 11.3 million in revenue. Midfield ace Jorginho (31) joins city rivals and leaders Arsenal.
Actually, Hakim Ziyech (29) should have left the six-time English champion on Tuesday. The Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain had actually already agreed on a loan move. However, this burst – because Chelsea screwed up.

As “L’Équipe” writes, the documents for the deal arrived too late in the French capital. As a result, the reigning champions could no longer register the winger with the league. The newspaper further reports that PSG will probably file a complaint.
Transfer minus of 543 million!
A turbulent month came to an end for owner Todd Boehly (49) and Chelsea on Tuesday. While things are only moderate on a sporting level – only 10th place and a win in January – the already negative transfer balance has worsened further.

If you add the summer transfers, 611 million euros have already been spent. In contrast, only 68 million were received. According to “transfermarkt.com”, it’s a minus of 543 million.
The calls for financial fair play are loud, but Chelsea avoid this with a trick. The club equips players with mega contracts in order to deduct the transfer fees in smaller tranches over several years. For example, Ukraine jewel Mykhaylo Mudryk (22) was tied until 2031 – as is now Enzo Fernandez. (che)
