Just five days after the operation on his broken tibia and fibula, Magnus Nygren is standing in front of the HCD dressing room before the game against Zug.

“Nygren, Magnus Nygren” calls echoed through the stadium in the 24th minute of the game between Davos and Zug. And then the HCD fans pull up three banners with Swedish words. Translated, they mean: “Get well soon, King. One of us forever. We love you.” And their king, the injured defender, sees the love message live.
The Swede is only at the game five days after his operation, wants to support his team-mates and can be seen on crutches in front of the HCD cloakroom a few minutes before the first face-off. As a reminder, Nygren broke his tibia and fibula last Sunday in the game against SCB. The unfortunate action – he tilted in a groove on the ice while moving sideways and twisted his ankle – stirred up the whole of hockey Switzerland. The 32-year-old received countless recovery wishes. Now also clearly visible to all of the HCD fans.

A special moment for Nygren. “It’s overwhelming,” he says. “At the same time, it’s hard to realize how much my work is appreciated here.” Even after his accident, he was at odds because that moment was his last appearance with HCD. Nygren moves home to Färjestad. Now this special appreciation of the followers. “I’ve always given 110 percent for this club, every day, every game. And it was always worth it. A big part of me will always be yellow and blue.”
He is grateful for the six HCD years, “but they are not over yet”. The Swede emphasized in the hospital bed that he will stay in Davos for the rest of the season. “I will do everything to help the team win more games.”
