Michael Frey is in the Schalke starting eleven for the first time.
Michael Frey (28) was presented as a new Schalke goal hope on Friday, and the Swiss striker made a partial appearance against Frankfurt the following day. And Frey is promptly in the starting XI against Leipzig on Tuesday. Turbulent days for the 28-year-old Münsinger!
However, Frey’s departure from Royal Antwerp was also turbulent. The reason for the separation is said to have been the difficult relationship with Antwerp coach Mark van Bommel (45). Because: Frey wanted to play, but was no longer considered by the Dutchman towards the end. “They demoted me and I became number two.” This despite having a respectable goalscoring record for the Belgian club – 31 goals in 51 games.

An assist in the Schalke home debacle
So now Frey is playing at the bottom of the table in the German Bundesliga. His ambitions: “Give everything for Schalke” and “help them”. So far, however, he has not succeeded. After the 0: 3 bankruptcy in Frankfurt, it also suffered a bitter defeat against RB Leipzig.
It’s already 4-0 after 45 minutes – Silva, Heinrichs, Silva and Werner score again for the Bulls. After the break, the royal blues managed a sign of life. Frey assists Kozuki, who defends well against the Leipzig defense and scores a consolation goal (56′).
Frey finished work after 80 minutes, and Schalke then conceded a fifth and sixth goal. Cédric Brunner plays through on right-back. (mou)
