In the fifth game of 2023 and four wins in a row, the Nashville Predators suffered their first defeat with Captain Roman Josi and forward Nino Niederreiter. Away from the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team from the state of Tennessee lost 1-2.
A Toronto power play goal 75 seconds from time threw the Predators out of overtime. Josi played his 800th NHL game in the regular season. Including the playoffs, the 32-year-old from Bern now has 885 appearances.
Meier hits just before the end
In the duel between the currently best Swiss NHL scorers between the Los Angeles Kings with Kevin Fiala and Timo Meier with the San Jose Sharks, the Kings emerged 4-3 victors. Measured by the scorer points, however, Meier experienced the more successful evening. The Appenzeller scored the 24th goal of the season with the power play goal to make it 2:2 and shortly before the end he made it 3:4 to get his 19th assist. This results in 43 scorer points.
Fiala, who had scored 5 goals in the last two games, failed to increase his tally. With 46 points in 45 games, his average scorer is still above one point per game. (SDA)
