She is “absent due to work”

Nati heroine Humm is missing from Nielsen’s last squad

Noch coach Nils Nielsen has nominated 26 players for the last game of the year for the women’s national team. The woman who shot Switzerland to the World Cup two weeks ago is not among them: she has to work!

Fabienne Humm is not in national dress in November – she is working.

In the women’s national team, not all players are professionals. The latest squad for the test match against Denmark (November 11 in Schaffhausen) shows this impressively. Fabienne Humm (35) is “absent for work reasons,” writes the association in the squad announcement – exactly the woman who made the difference in the dramatic World Cup qualifier two weeks ago against Wales with her goal in extra time and the Switzerland secured the World Cup ticket.

Humm has 75 national team games under his belt and works full-time as a logistics clerk. For years she has been taking vacation and unpaid leave for national events, and during the EM in England she worked 45 hours in the home office. Now she is missing an international match. She is missing work-related like FCZ colleague Julia Stierli (25).
