Hamlin collapses on the field after Tee Higgins (23), of the opposing team, the Cincinnati Bengals, stopped with a hard hit near the center line.
Hamlin stood up briefly, then collapsed, unable to make contact, and fell to the floor. For more than ten minutes, he was treated by doctors from both teams and paramedics on the field.
NFL star had to be ventilated
According to ESPN, he had to be resuscitated twice. An ambulance was driven to the square shortly after the incident. When Hamlin was taken away, he needed to be ventilated.
The Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills game was then abandoned. “Today’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals has been postponed after the Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin collapsed,” the NFL said in a statement.
Hamlin in “critical condition”
The NFL continued, “Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field from team medics and independent local EMTs. He was then taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition. Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills.” (eu)
