The fans are looking at fog instead of the halfpipe. Because the jury doesn’t see anything either, the final is postponed.
During the week during training and qualifying, the athletes on the Crap Sogn Gion repeatedly had to contend with snow, wind and fog. Now there are also problems with the weather at the weekend. The final of the snowboarders in the halfpipe will be postponed.
Actually, this should have already started at 5.30 p.m. on the stage. However, because visibility is poor, the start is postponed to 6:40 p.m. Since there were also strong gusts of wind in addition to the poor visibility, it was agreed to start at 7:20 p.m.
Because there is no improvement in sight even then, it is ultimately decided to postpone the final. It is unclear when the snowboarders around Olympic hero Jan Scherrer will be allowed to compete.
Also postponed snowboard slopestyle finals
In the afternoon, the snowboarders’ slopestyle final with Switzerland’s Nicolas Huber had to be postponed due to the weather. It should now take place on Sunday morning, before the final of the ski freestylers. The snowboard women’s final was also postponed to Sunday. (hon)
