Marco Odermatt prepared for the home game in Adelboden on the Reiteralm in Austria.
They would have found “super training conditions” on the Reiteralm in Austria, revealed Marco Odermatt to “20 minutes”. Just why did our best giant slalom cracks have to go abroad to be prepared for the Adelboden home game in the Bernese Oberland?
Odermatt criticizes in general: “It is unimaginable and a pity that such conditions cannot be achieved in Switzerland. Over Christmas and New Year, the Swiss ski areas wanted to sell a lot of day tickets and were very reluctant to close off training slopes for us. »
“It is also important for us that a large number of European Cup races have taken place in Switzerland in recent weeks.”Walter Reusser, Swiss Alpine Director
“Of course we would like to train in Switzerland as often as possible,” says Walter Reusser, the Swiss Alpine Director, when asked by Blick. “But it is also important for us that a large number of European Cup races have taken place in Switzerland in recent weeks. Our young athletes benefit enormously from this. That’s very gratifying.”
The Reiteralm is very popular with professionals as a training area. The white carpet was recently rolled out for the Swiss in Austria. “In order to simulate the home game on the Chuenisbärgli as well as possible, our training slope was prepared with around 700 kilograms of salt,” reported Riesen head coach Helmut Krug.
For the region, these training sessions for the ski stars are “huge advertising,” says Odermatt about “20 minutes”. “It’s a shame that people don’t appreciate that in Switzerland and don’t take advantage of the opportunity.” (eg/yap)
