Olten’s Andri Spiller in a duel with Langenthal’s Tyler Higgins.
In perhaps the last serious battle for a long time between arch-rivals Olten and Langenthal, Solothurn won 5-3 at home in the Swiss League. Sean Collins and Stanislav Horansky were responsible for the preliminary decision in favor of the leader in the 50th minute with a double strike within 38 seconds to make it 4:2.
While the hosts celebrated their 34th success in the 42nd game of the current championship, Langenthaler suffered their first defeat after seven victories. The Oberaargauer are withdrawing from the Swiss League at the end of the season.
Despite the strong record, it is not certain that Olten will go into the playoffs from pole position. Coach Lars Leuenberger’s side remain three points clear of La Chaux-de-Fonds, who won 9-5 at the Biasca Ticino Rockets, with three rounds to go in qualifying.(SDA)
