Things are not going well for the Austrian technicians around Katharina Liensberger this season.
In Austria, the blessing of skiing is crooked. This is partly because of the poor performance that the technicians are showing this season. They only got one podium finish – Katharina Liensberger came third in the Killington Slalom. You have searched in vain for a win in all disciplines.
Patrick Ortlieb (55) already criticized it in mid-December. The downhill Olympic champion from 1992 and today’s ÖSV finance officer spoke of a “bastard” that the old leadership left to the new one around President Roswitha Stadlober (59). He also criticized the number of trainers, saying that the entourage was too large.
Problems are self-made
One person is still angry about these statements: Peter Schröcksnadel (81). The ex-president of the Austrian Ski Association does not feel guilty. Compared to the “Kleine Zeitung”, he says: “The new management has more or less replaced the entire management team.” For him it is clear: the problems are self-made. Four top executives were let go, “there is no company that can handle such a bloodletting without a trace”.
Schröcks Nadel is just disappointed with the new ÖSV leadership. Above all from Ortlieb. “I once wanted him to be my successor. But he obviously can’t do it, »he etches against him. And goes even further.
“I read that he has to help out in the hotel kitchen. How can someone who doesn’t have their own business under control lead the association?” To explain: Ortlieb runs a four-star hotel in Oberlech am Arlberg (Austria) together with his family. Schröcksnadel talks himself into a rage, adding: “It would be best for the ÖSV if Patrick Ortlieb stayed in the kitchen and gave up all his functions in the association. Otherwise he’ll ruin it.”
Nothing is excluded
A clear statement from the ex-president. Only: This does not solve the problems with the missing results. After all, the current leadership does not talk around them.
So Stadlober says in the context of the Flachau night slalom that she is not averse to making adjustments in the coaching team. “It’s about the women, it’s about the successful sport of our women – nothing is out of the question.”
However, she believes such changes should come from within the team. The technicians now have two weeks to work on themselves. At the end of January, two giant slaloms and one slalom are on the program. (bir)
