Vinzenz Rohrer is on the ice after a check.
Another shocking moment in North American sports: a week and a half after NFL player Damar Hamlin remained motionless on the field, a similar scene happened in the Canadian junior hockey league OHL.
The Ottawa 67’s Vinzenz Rohrer fell unhappily on his head after a check in the game against the Kingston Frontenacs. The Austrian – previously the scorer to make it 1-0 – then lies dazed on the ice and is transported out of the stadium on a stretcher. After initial investigations, his club gives the all-clear. Rohrer can leave the hospital that same night.
No serious injuries were diagnosed. However, his father told the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten” that his son could not remember the check and the impact. It is not yet possible to say how long Rohrer will be out. The 18-year-old was selected in the third round of last year’s NHL draft by the Montreal Canadiens. Before his engagement in North America, Rohrer played in the junior division of the ZSC Lions. (cmu)
