The Swiss long-distance runner Jonas Raess shone at the indoor meeting in Boston on Saturday night. The 28-year-old from LC Regensdorf left well-known opponents behind over 5000 m and finished third in 13:10.96 minutes. Raess only ran faster over this distance indoors when he set a Swiss record at the same place last year (13:07.95).
In Lyon, a second Swiss runner, Tom Elmer, provided a fine performance. The 25-year-old from Glarus won the 1500 m race in 3:40.84 minutes – only three Swiss people (Peter Philipp, Pierre Délèze and Peter Wirz) have ever run this distance faster indoors. (SDA)
