Rally driver and YouTube star Ken Block has died
The US motorsport legend Ken Block became an internet star with daring stunts, impressing millions of PS fans. This was apparently his undoing. The American died in a snowmobile accident at the age of just 55.

Great sadness in the motorsport scene. Former rally driver and current YouTube star Ken Block has died after a snowmobile accident. The 55-year-old apparently drove down a steep slope in the US state of Utah. He apparently lost control of the vehicle. This then landed on him and fatally injured him.
Multiple X Games medalist
Ken Block got into motorsport in 2005 and was named “Rookie of the Year” in the “Rally America” series in his very first season. In 2010 he founded his own rally team. Overall, he was runner-up in the American Rally Championship three times. Block also competed in the World Rally Championship. In the Rallycross discipline, Block even won several medals at the X Games.
Block became really well-known with daring stunts that he posted on the internet. Again and again he impressed his PS fans with so-called Gymkhana videos, a skill course for cars. Block reached a whopping 113 million people with his most viewed video. Block was also a star on Instagram, had over seven million followers. Even before his career in motorsport, Block also made a name for himself as a fashion manufacturer. He co-founded the well-known snow and skateboard brand DC Shoes.

The grief after the death of the former rally star is great. YouTuber, actor and professional boxer Jake Paul said goodbye to his “childhood hero” on Twitter. Former Formula 1 winner Jenson Button also took note of the death with shock. “Our sport lost one of the best today, but above all a great person,” Button wrote on Twitter.
Countless other fans also said goodbye to their great idol on social media. His rally team Hooligan Racing also said goodbye to Block: “Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon.” Block leaves behind his wife Lucy and three children. (hon)
