Aiyegun Tosin is Zurich’s top scorer with four league goals: The FCZ striker has his place in attack for sure.

After the first Super League phase, FCZ coach Bo Henriksen (47) spoke plainly. “We need a striker. That has top priority, »said the Dane in view of the meager 13 goals in 16 rounds.
Now Henriksen got his striker. Two respectively: Roko Simic (19) came on loan from Red Bull Salzburg and Daniel Afriyie (21) from Ghana. With Calixte “Junior” Ligue (17), there is also a newcomer in the professional team, which received a lot of test play time in preparation.
With the new signings, the striker hierarchy has changed. Aiyegun Tosin (25) is seeded. The FCZ is sticking to the plan that the African should be the legitimate successor to master clipper Assan Ceesay in terms of potential and believes he can play more games like the end of the preliminary round when he shot down Servette with a hat trick.
Newcomer Simic with early praise
In the two-man storm at Tosin’s side? Either Jonathan Okita (26) or newcomer Simic. However, Okita still has to live with the fact that the Zurich 3-4-1-2 system does not have its traditional wing position.
Simic, on the other hand, is a classic centre-forward – in Croatia the son of World Cup and Milan hero Dario Simic (47) is believed to one day be able to continue the tradition of unerring strikers like Suker, Mandzukic, Olic etc.
Simic’s Croatian compatriot Ivan Santini (33), on the other hand, has been sidelined at FCZ. The summer newcomer failed in the preliminary round with zero goals, was even a mortgage with a dismissal, four yellow cards and the three bans that were negotiated in this way. In the preparation Henriksen brought the veteran only sporadically.
The new African missed the preparation
Bohdan Viunnyk (20) has a similarly difficult position as Santini. More is expected from the Ukrainian at FCZ than the zero goals so far, and that was also communicated to him during the winter break.
It is unclear where newcomer Afriyie will fit into the hierarchy. The World Cup participant from Ghana is not yet in Zurich. He is currently playing in Algeria in the African Nations Cup, which is only open to players from the domestic leagues. At the latest after the final on February 5th, Afriyie will join FCZ – and then he will first have to get used to life in Europe on and off the pitch.
