Points given away repeatedly
SCB struggles with annoying slumps
The SCB has the important duel against Zug well under control. And then clearly loses 1:4. “That’s the most frustrating part,” says sports director Andrew Ebbett.

It is an important duel in their hunt for a direct playoff spot. Bern controls the game and leads – but then loses against EVZ by a clear 1:4. SCB sports director Andrew Ebbett (40) quarrels. “It’s been like this for the past three weeks.” It is Bern’s fifth defeat in the last six games. “We gave away points that we shouldn’t have.”
What the Canadian means: His SCB shows how well he could play – but rarely over 60 minutes. “That’s the most frustrating part. We control the game, but then we suddenly stop playing and skating.” The Zuger tear the duel with two goals within two minutes – and the SCB can no longer react.
Ebbett appeals to the leading players. You have to be able to manage a 1-0 lead and not allow so many goals. “It’s all about game management.” During long missions and when the change is difficult for the stressed defenders, the puck management of the players must be solid.
Ebbett’s concerns are not unfounded. The team now has to fight through the four games (including three home games, today against Fribourg) before the national team break in the hope that some injured players will return afterwards. “After that, a best-of-7 is waiting for us. Seven more games in which the direct playoff qualification is at stake. »
