Simon Anderegg is retiring from wrestling with immediate effect.
After wrestling king Christian Stucki, another veteran of wrestling ends his sporting career in sawdust. Bernese wrestler Simon Anderegg (36) announces his immediate resignation. “The time has come and I’ve decided to hang up my swinging pants as an active swinger,” he writes on his website.
In the message, he also thanks his partners, coaches, fans, his family and everyone who has supported him on his way. He is now looking forward to “what may come next”. He has not commented on the reasons for his resignation.
After 115 wreaths it’s over
The 36-year-old from the Meiringen wrestling club had been active in wrestling since 1994 and was extremely successful. So he collected a total of 115 wreaths in his career! His greatest successes include winning four federal crowns in 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019.
Altogether, Anderegg took part in seven federal wrestling festivals, always contesting eight courses. In addition, the trained carpenter from Meiringen has also won five wreath festivals – four at Bern cantonal and district association festivals and one at a mountain wreath festival. The Bernese cantonal swing association loses a very big one in its ranks. (mbi)
