Announcement on his birthday: Christian Stucki wants to stop after this wrestling season.
The king resigns: With Christian Stucki, one of the biggest wrestlers leaves the sawdust ring.
On his 38th birthday, the wrestling king of 2019 announced on Instagram: “The coming season will be my last – it’s time to break new ground!” He is looking forward to his 23rd and final season “and everything that may come after that!”
The high point of the Schwinger Grand Slam
Stucki has fetched 133 wreaths in his glorious career so far. The so-called “Schwinger-Grand-Slam” is undoubtedly one of the greatest successes: alongside Jörg Abderhalden (43), Christian Stucki is the only one who has competed at both the Unspunnen (2017), the Kilchbergschwinget (2008) and the Federal Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival (2019 in Zug) was able to triumph.
In his post he says: “Never at the beginning of my career would I have dared to dream of all the things I was allowed to experience and achieve!”

When exactly he wants to end the 2023 season, Stucki leaves open. A highlight of the year for him should be the Seeland wrestling festival on June 10th and 11th at his place of residence Lyss BE. A last home game for Stucki.

One last hurrah for Stucki
The resignation plan does not come as a surprise. Since the coronation at the federal three and a half years ago, Stucki has repeatedly struggled with injuries. For the federal in Pratteln BL last summer, he had to put up with an injury to the shoulder tendons and a severe herniated disc. As recently as November, Stucki left it completely open as to whether he would ever get into his thongs again: “It could also be that I won’t be able to compete in a wrestling festival anymore.”
But such an end would not have suited the Seeland giant. The king doesn’t want to step down without one last hurrah. (cat)
