Huge construction site in Lausanne
Should John Fust be an architect or a magician?
Petr Svoboda, the man for everything in Lausanne, left the club at the beginning of the year. Now it’s John Fust who must try to rebuild a squad in tatters.

Expectations and reality are very different at Lausanne HC – disappointed faces (here Fuchs and Marti) are the order of the day.
Storm Petr has passed and left Lausanne HC in bad shape. Within three years, Svoboda seems to have got it all wrong. The former co-owner and head of sports has increasingly signed long-term contracts for average players. Hügli (3 points) has a contract until 2027. Kenins (4 points) will play three more seasons in Lausanne after the current season.
Lausanne or Tigers: Who can break the losing streak?(01:11)
Worse still: Apart from Maillard, Stephan (contracts are expiring) and Almond (2024), no other Swiss player will leave Lausanne in the foreseeable future. And if it does, it will cost. According to Blick information, the LHC is already operating with one of the three largest budgets in the league. Who can save this store?
Only one exit from Emmerton is free
Everything indicates that John Fust will remain at the helm of the club. According to “24 Heures”, he will sign a multi-year contract as sports director. He has held that position since leaving as coach in November, despite Svoboda’s omnipotence.
Now that he’s alone at the helm, the Canadian-Swiss has to be creative above all else. Because his only free room for maneuver is to replace Emmerton, whose contract expires in the summer. All other foreigners have contracts. Svoboda’s mistakes could cost owner Grégory Finger, who has often digged deep into his pockets since taking office in 2020, a few million more. Will he still want to?
Everything is at stake against Langnau
But if the future is troubling, what about the present? This weekend, Lausanne is playing against the SCL Tigers (live on Blick TV on Friday evening from 7:25 p.m.) for everything. To avoid a stunning playout final against Ajoie, the Vaud should take six points.
