Murat Yakin’s commitment to FC Sion ended for the coach in 2019 in a dispute with club boss Christian Constantin. In the dispute, a court ruling has now been reached that asks FC Sion to pay.

Murat Yakin was a coach at FC Sion until the summer of 2019. The commitment of today’s national team coach ended extremely ugly in Valais.

The separation between the club and Yakin then also dealt with the judiciary. Now the verdict follows in the dismissal dispute: FC Sion has to pay a large sum to its former coach.

«Murat is like a little child»

The scandal erupted at the beginning of May 2019. After a good start under Murat Yakin, FC Sion got into more and more of a crisis. Yakin gets a long backing from club boss Christian Constantin. But then the wind turns – and more and more ugly details become known.

Yakin is first publicly counted by Constantin, then dismantled more and more. CC accuses the coach of a lack of work ethic, laziness and unprofessional behavior. The Sion boss even portrays Yakin as a liar. “Murat is like a little child who denies having eaten Nutella with a smeared mouth,” Constantin said at the time.

The dispute between the two is said to have even led to fisticuffs at a team meeting. In the end Yakin gets too colorful. He terminates the employment contract without notice.

Is Sion appealing?

Since then, the dispute between Constantin and Yakin has been a matter for the judiciary. Now the district court in Martigny has decided that Yakin gave up at Sion because the circumstances were no longer acceptable. As “Le Nouvelliste” writes, the Murat Yakin club now has to pay over 1.1 million francs.

Whether Constantin and FC Sion will appeal this judgment is still open. (cat)
