Former ski racer Rosi Mittermaier dies at the age of 72.
The German ski icon Rosi Mittermaier († 72) is dead. As her family reports, she succumbed to a “serious illness”. Mittermaier became famous after winning two gold medals at the 1976 Winter Olympics.
She leaves behind her husband Christian Neureuther (73), who was also a ski racer, their children Ameli (41) and Felix Neureuther (38) and their grandchildren. Son Felix was also active in the ski circus. As a slalom specialist, he won several world championship medals and ended his career about four years ago. Daughter Ameli works as a fashion designer.
