Dominic Stricker (ATP 177) wins his opening game of qualifying for the French Open. The 19-year-old from Bern beats João Menezes (ATP 363) 6: 4, 6: 0 and is one step closer to his first Grand Slam participation. In the second of three rounds to be survived, Stricker has to deal with Juan Ignacio Londero (ATP 141).
Conny Perrin (WTA 174) also made it into the second round for women. The 31-year-old defeats Anastassija Komardina 4: 6, 6: 4, 6: 3 and now meets Linda Noskova (WTA 185).
For Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 120), however, the qualification is over after the first round. The Zurich defeated Dimitar Kusmanow (ATP 193) 5: 7, 3: 6. The tournament in Paris is also over for Stefanie Vögele (WTA 178). She loses 6: 4, 4: 6, 0: 6 against Julia Grabher (WTA 153), who surprisingly knocked out Jil Teichmann (WTA 24) a month ago in the Istanbul round of 16. (smi)
