Swiss Ski resists new Fis plans

Rarely has a sports official lost so much credit in eleven months as Johan Eliasch (60), who grew up in Sweden. After his election last June, the London-based billionaire was praised as a glorious reformer not least by Austria’s ski general Peter Schröcksnadel. But now the representatives of the leading alpine nations rate the World Cup calendar drawn up by Eliasch for the coming winter as a non-starter.

Above all, the plan for a new combination triggers a collective shake of the head. In the future, the downhill will no longer be combined with the slalom, but the downhill with the Super-G and the giant with the slalom. Eight combinations per gender are to be carried out in the next World Cup season.
