Joao Felix is flirting with a change of club.
The top clubs have until January 31, 2023 to sign their dream players. Then the winter transfer window closes and all deals must be bagged. Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (to Al-Nassr) and Holland’s Cody Gakpo (to Liverpool) have started. Which top stars could follow suit? Blick shows the transfer candidates.
Joao Félix (market value: 50 million euros)
In 2019, the star of Portugal’s exceptional talent Joao Felix (23) rose: almost all top clubs wanted the then 19-year-old, why, he showed at the World Cup in Qatar: he was the thinker and guide in the game forward. Surprisingly, Atlético Madrid won the race at the time – the Rojiblancos paid 127 million euros. But Felix was only able to develop insufficiently in Madrid because the destructive style of play does not suit the noble technician. This is also the reason why he is planning his departure. The possible buyers: Juventus, PSG and Manchester United. They are all courting Felix, who still has a contract until 2026. The problem: Atlético does not want to let his playmaker go below 100 million euros. So far, the three clubs have been reluctant to pay this price. If the right offer comes, the Portuguese should be gone.
Julian Alvarez (50 million euros)
Became world champion at his first World Cup and scored four World Cup goals: Julian Alvarez (22) was one of the big stars at Argentina’s title. At Manchester City, however, the gaucho only plays second fiddle. His bad luck: Erling Braut Haaland (15 games, 21 goals) is his storm competitor. Either Pep Guardiola converts him to a winger or he sits back on the bench after the great World Cup. But he’s too good for that. And too young. Alvarez (contract until 2027) needs match practice. If he doesn’t get this from City, FC Barcelona could become an issue again – but more likely in the summer. For City, at most, a loan would be an option.
Sofyan Amrabat (25 million euros)
An Amrabat transfer would not amount to a loan, but a permanent takeover. The name of the 26-year-old Moroccan was already emblazoned on Tottenham’s note before the World Cup in Qatar. However, Spurs were unable to guide him to the island because they could not agree on a transfer fee with AC Fiorentina. Now the Londoners want to start another attempt. Amrabat has not become cheaper: 45 to 50 million euros are to come, writes the “Gazzetta”. With Liverpool and Barcelona now also involved in the fight for the six, the transfer fee could be even higher. The player’s wish is to move to the Premier League. Amrabat’s club, Fiorentina, rubs his hands: After the transfer of Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus in 2021 for 90 million euros (78.4 million profit), the Italian club would make another big plus with Amrabat: bought for 19.5 million euros get him in 2020 from Hellas Verona.
Josko Gvardiol (75 million euros)
In addition to Amrabat, Josko Gvardiol (20) also played a formidable World Cup. He was even voted into the team of the tournament by “L’Équipe”. The 20-year-old can do almost everything: technically strong, a lot of water displacement, good duel behavior and he’s also fast. Chelsea are said to have already been turned down by RB Leipzig with an 80 million offer. Real Madrid have already put out feelers to Gvardiol. Whether there is a change depends on the fee. It would take a monster offer to free the Croatian (contract until 2027) from RB.
Mykhaylo Mudryk (€40m)
This change is almost fixed. Only die-hard football fans know Mudryk’s name. But that might be different in the future. The 21-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk winger has catapulted his market value from four to 40 million euros in a year. Premier League leaders Arsenal are said to have agreed on a transfer with the Ukrainian club and the player. The fee should be around 60 million euros.
Jude Bellingham (110 million euros)
Does he already change in winter? Unlikely, but not impossible. After the Super World Cup with England and a more than solid season at Borussia Dortmund so far, rumors about Jude Bellingham are rife. BVB managing director Watzke said before the World Cup: «After Qatar we will have a basic discussion about what he actually wants. Then he should tell us whether he wants to stay or whether he wants to go.” A winter change should probably only take place with a utopian offer (over 150 million euros). The favourites: Liverpool and Real Madrid.
