ZSC coach Crawford ahead of a hit in Zug
“The players shouldn’t think too much”
After two wins to start under Marc Crawford, the ZSC Lions have recently lost twice. And today we’re going to Meister Zug (live on Blick TV, from 7:25 p.m.).

ZSC coach Marc Crawford wants his players to stay relaxed.
Stephen RothDeputy Head of Ice Hockey
Marc Crawford doesn’t seem worried, although his ZSC Lions recently lost to Ajoie (2-3) and the SCRJ Lakers (2-5). The Canadian was not dissatisfied with the performance against the bottom of the table. Regarding the game in Rapperswil-Jona, he points out that it was the fourth game within six days. And in the first two games after his return to Zurich, his team played well defensively against Biel (2-1) and Bern (3-0) at the beginning of the year and kept goalie Ludovic Waeber strong, he says.

The six changes of coach in the 2022/23 season: Coach Christian Wohlwend’s tenure in Davos ended abruptly on January 10 after almost four years.
The 61-year-old is deliberately relaxed. “I want to understand what every player needs and what he’s like as a person,” says Crawford. So far he has concentrated 70 percent on getting to know the players. Only 30 percent was specifically about sports. He doesn’t want to change too much. “I want us to play simply and efficiently.”
While the players thirst for input from the new coach, returning Crawford doesn’t want to overload their heads. “The players should be relaxed and not think too much.”
Only 7 points ahead of the line
Of course, Crawford is aware that Zurich need points and that they have little reserve in the table – the lead over HCD and 7th place is only seven points. “We have to play better. And we will play better, »says the master coach from 2014.
Tonight there will be a duel with champions EVZ (live on Blick TV, from 7.25 p.m.), against whom the Lions under Crawford’s predecessor Rikard Grönborg lost a 3-0 lead in the playoff final last spring. “Zug is always a challenge,” says the ZSC coach, who watched Zug’s semi-final first leg in the Champions Hockey League at Tappara Tampere (0-2) on TV on Tuesday.
The Zurich team won the first duel after the bankruptcy in the final at the end of November in Zug 6:4.
