For Zug defender Dominik Schlumpf, who was overrun by Juho Lammikko when Zurich scored the first goal, the game was already over in the first third.

In the duel between the two last year’s playoff finalists, the ZSC Lions defeated champions Zug 3:2 and stopped their negative series after six defeats. But as so often in a “Z-Derby” there was a controversy.
Master coach Dan Tangnes was far from starting a polemic against the referees Mirsoslav Stolc and Lukas Kohlmüller or blaming the referees for the defeat. The Norwegian knew his team hadn’t been good enough early in the game. “It’s naïve to think you can win every time you’re 2-0 down,” he said.
But when asked how he saw the scene when ZSC striker Simon Bodenmann caught his defender Dominik Schlumpf, he gave an honest answer. “Smurf couldn’t play anymore. He got his elbow right on his chin,” Tangnes said. “For me it’s a clear 5-minute penalty.” And jokingly added: “That’s why I get gray hair and age like a dog.” The 43-year-old said he did not want to get involved in discussions about referees. “But if you have the time to look at them, then the case is clear.”

Stolc and Kohlmüller initially opted for a 5-minute penalty. And gave themselves the opportunity to watch the scene on the video. After that, they only sent the Lions striker to the cooler for two minutes.
Crawford saw it very differently than Tangnes
Are you influenced by the Zurich fans? They had seen the scene several times on the gigantic video cube in the Swiss Life Arena and had no understanding of the punishment. For them, Bodenmann was innocent, which is hardly surprising. And ZSC coach Marc Crawford said: “If you see the repetition, you say: That’s not a punishment. But the referees didn’t have a chance not to award a penalty. In the end it was the right decision.”
“When you see the repetition, you say: This is not a punishment.Marc Crawford, ZSC coach
What the Canadian meant by that: The referees only have two options when they go to video study, which has only been possible since this season: five or two penalty minutes. There can be no acquittal.
Bodenmann’s penalty then lasted only 9 seconds. Then Christian Djoos shortened to 1:2. With a 5-minute penalty, which doesn’t end with a goal, Zug might have done even more damage. “I don’t get involved in such hypothetical considerations,” said Tangnes.
