Cameraman Nathan Eidse is on hand as the Canada U20s celebrate at the World Cup in Halifax.

If you pay close attention to the U20 World Cup matches, you can see him: Nathan Eidse, the cameraman, who goes onto the ice to show the players up close and from a different perspective.
The Canadian, who works for the producing TV station TSN, is dressed all in white, wears a white helmet and white ice skates. His camouflage suit now also includes the camera, which is wrapped in white. The idea for the packaged camera came from none other than what is probably the best ice hockey player you have ever seen: Wayne “The Great One” Gretzky (61), who also works for TSN.
“I have the best seat in the house,” Eidse told the Canadian Press. During the game he sits in the penalty box and then jumps onto the ice at goals, TV timeouts or after the siren to capture the emotions up close.
“It was weird at first”
He was there quickly after Canadian wonder boy Connor Bedard (17) shot the maple leaves against Slovakia in overtime with a solo run into the semifinals.
The former goalie is already on the ice during the warm-up before the game to capture the first pictures and give the players the opportunity to get used to him. “It was strange at first,” Austrian forward Vinzenz Rohrer, who grew up in the ZSC Lions organization, told the Canadian Press.
Despite his best efforts to remain unnoticed, the camouflaged cameraman has his own fans. In the Canadians’ last group game, three spectators dressed in white sat in the stands and applauded every time Eidse stepped onto the ice. (sr)
