Brian Zanetti will play for the SCL Tigers starting next season.
The SCL Tigers bring in defender Brian Zanetti. The 19-year-old has been given a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Zanetti, who was trained in Lugano, was surprisingly drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 4th round in the 110th position of the 2021 NHL draft. In the fall, he completed pre-season with the NHL team, but was not included in the roster.
He is currently in his second season with the Peterborough Petes in the Canadian junior league OHL, and he has already completed three junior world championships in the jersey of the Swiss national team.
«Ambitious club with the best conditions»
“It is an important and strong sign for the Tigers organization that such a young and ambitious talent has chosen us,” says Pascal Müller, Head of Sport at the SCL Tigers.
Zanetti’s goal is still the big stage: “My goal is still the NHL and I see the best sporting conditions for my next step in development with the SCL Tigers as an ambitious training club,” the youngster is quoted as saying by his new club. (bjl)
