Tim Berni (number 75) celebrates his first goal in the NHL.
At the beginning of the final third, Berni converted a pass from Patrik Laine with a wrist shot from the slot to make it 2:3 in the meantime. It was also his first scorer point in the NHL after just serving a two-minute penalty.
“Scoring the first goal and getting the team back in the game was a cool moment. I think it was time, »says Berni after his goal premiere. “I would have loved to have won, too, but it was fun.”
For Columbus it was the tenth away defeat in a row and the fourth defeat in the last five games. With 26 points, Berni’s team is the second worst in the league and bottom in the Eastern Conference.
Hischier and Siegenthaler “meet”
Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils celebrated a 5-3 away win in the top game against the Carolina Hurricanes thanks to Swiss goals. Jonas Siegenthaler scored the 1:1 in the first third after preparatory work by Nico Hischier from the tightest angle.
