Moves from Geneva to Kloten: Latvian Deniss Smirnovs.
EHC Kloten has signed two new strikers for the coming season. Deniss Smirnovs, a 23-year-old Latvian with a Swiss license, joins the promoted team from Servette. He is leaving Geneva after nine years.
19-year-old Joel Marchon returns to Switzerland from the Canadian junior league QMJHL. Before moving overseas, Marchon worked for the Academy of EV Zug. He is also the younger brother of Marc Marchon, who already plays for Kloten.
The two would have different qualities: “With Smirnovs comes a technician, with Joel Marchon a breaker,” EHCK sports director Larry Mitchell is quoted as saying in a club statement. (bjl)
