U20 national team also defeats Slovakia

The Swiss juniors beat Slovakia 4:3 after a penalty shoot-out at the U20 World Cup in Canada and celebrate their third win in the fourth and final group game. Nevertheless, they finish Group B in the penultimate place. The opponent in the quarterfinals is still open.

A decisive event happened in the 43rd minute of the Hockey U20 World Championships in Moncton (Ka). First, the Swiss goalie Kevin Pasche made a spectacular save against Adam Zlnka, in return Mischa Ramel reduced the deficit to 2:3. Six minutes later, Lorenzo Canonica equalized with Switzerland’s first power-play goal of the tournament.

However, because the score was 3:3 after 60 minutes, it was clear that coach Marco Bayer’s team would remain in 4th place in the table. In the shootout, it was the 20th penalty that made the decision, which Rodwin Dionico converted. The Swiss had already won the penalty shoot-out against Latvia. The Finns defeated them in extra time, the only defeat set them off against the USA (1:5).
