Re-election probably purely a matter of form
Uefa President Ceferin has no opponent
The re-election of Aleksander Ceferin as Uefa President should be a mere formality. As with Fifa President Infantino, the 55-year-old has no candidate.

UEFA President Ceferin faces re-election.
As with Fifa, so with Uefa? Even with Gianni Infantino, it all boils down to his being re-elected president of world football’s governing body. Now it looks like the same thing will happen at Uefa. As Uefa announced on Friday, the Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin is going to the congress on April 5 in Lisbon without a candidate against him – so re-election is only a matter of form.
Re-election for Ceferin would mean a third four-year term. The 55-year-old took over the presidency in 2016 and was confirmed in office for a second term in 2019. The deadline for applications from possible opponents had passed on January 5th.
David Martin (Northern Ireland) and Sandor Csanyi (Hungary) are up for re-election as Vice-Presidents. They duel with new contenders Debbie Hewitt (England) and David Ari Lahti (Finland). Fernando Gomes (Portugal) and Noel le Graet (France) are running for a four-year term on the Fifa Council. The deadline for applications for the Uefa Executive Committee is February 5th. (AFP/mam/hon)
