Joy and sorrow in the European Cup
Wacker Thun continues in the European Cup, scout Winterthur out
Both Wacker Thun and Pfadi Winterthur lose on the European stage. This has no consequences for the Bernese Oberland, but for scouts it does.
With 8 goals, Max Dannmeyer (r.) is instrumental in ensuring that Wacker Thun remains in the European Cup.
Wacker Thun advances to the 3rd round of the European Cup, the third highest level competition. For Scout Winterthur, on the other hand, the European Cup season is over.
After a win with a difference of four goals a week ago, both Swiss representatives have to leave the field as losers in the second leg. However, Wacker Thun’s 23:25 at home against Volendam from the Netherlands is enough to ensure progress. In the Bernese Oberland, who are still 15:12 in the lead at half-time, the German Max Dannmeyer is the most accurate player with eight goals.
Scout Winterthur, on the other hand, cannot defend the cushion after the 34:30 in the first leg. Without their defense chief Viran Morros, the Eulachstadt-based team lost 24:31 to the top Israeli club Ramat HaSharon. The world and European champions from Spain will be unavailable for several weeks after an adductor injury sustained in the first leg.
The draw for the 3rd round will take place next Tuesday in Vienna. (SDA)
