Concerns about Marco Odermatt.
This moment freezes the blood in the veins of Swiss ski fans: Marco Odermatt is racing down the Streif descent in Kitzbühel at high speed when he can only avoid a fall in extremis. The Nidwaldner can still drive to the finish, but there he is seen limping.
According to Blick information, a meniscus injury is now suspected in the overall World Cup leader, and an MRI should provide clarity today, Friday or Saturday. One thing is clear: Odermatt will miss the second descent in Kitzbühel on Saturday. Stöckli racing director Benni Matti confirms this to Blick: “He needs rest now.” His childhood friend Marco Kohler will probably stand in for Odermatt.
Is the World Cup now in danger for Odermatt? In Courchevel/Méribel things start on February 6th. So now it’s time to keep your fingers crossed. (mou/MWP)
