With Lara Stalder, EVZ is bringing a world-class striker back to Switzerland.
The direct entry into women’s ice hockey at the highest level was denied to the EVZ. But starting next season, Zug will be in the second-highest league, SWHL B. And with his ambitious «Women & Girls Programme», the men’s master gets off to a great start.

Former national coach Daniel Diaz (40) will be on the gang. And for the team, Lara Stalder has landed a real transfer coup, as announced by Blick. The 28-year-old world-class player has verbally agreed to play at EVZ next season, as the “Luzerner Zeitung” reports.
The Lucerne native has been playing abroad for ten years. For the last three seasons she has been the top scorer in Sweden with Brynäs league. In the strong Swedish league, the Nati striker, who was part of the 2014 Olympic bronze team, has scored 173 goals and booked 378 points in 180 games so far.
Zug wants to become a role model
Entry into the SWHL B was only permitted under certain conditions. In the first two seasons, for example, they are only allowed to sign one player from each club in the top two leagues.
“As a professional club, we have done little or nothing to promote girls and women in ice hockey in recent years. We’re going to change that now,” said Zug’s CEO Patrick Lengwiler recently on the club’s website. “We have set ourselves an ambitious program that aims to get many more girls into the sport of ice hockey and also aims to promote girls and women on an equal footing. We want to be the beacon of Central Switzerland and within a few years also set an example and inspire among professional clubs in Switzerland.” (sr)
