Recipe: Make This Khandesh Special Varan Batti At Home

Ingerdients

Toovar Dal, Atta, Maize Flour, Ajwain, Melted Ghee, Salt, Oil, Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Garlic, Green Chillies, Tomato, Turmeric Powder, Fresh Coriander Leaves And Oil

Step 1

Combine whole wheat flour, maize flour, carom seeds, ghee, salt, water, and knead to form a stiff dough. Cover with a muslin cloth and let sit for 10-15 minutes.

Step 2

Divide dough into equal portions, roll into balls, brush with ghee, shape into thick, thin, and again thin disks, fold, and roll again.

Step 3

Heat water in a steamer, apply ghee to the base, arrange prepared battis, and steam for 10-15 minutes.

Step 4

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and garlic, sauté for 30 seconds.

Step 5

Add the tomato and salt, and cook for two to three minutes, or until the tomatoes are soft.

Step 6

Mix turmeric powder, cooked dal, water, coriander, and mix well. Boil until well combined.

Step 7

Heat oil in a kadai, cut battis into four portions, deep fry until golden brown and crisp, drain on absorbent paper, and set aside.
