A week after the end of the term of office of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, radical supporters of the right-wing ex-military stormed the government district in the capital Brasília
During the storming of the government district in Brasília, radical supporters of Brazilian ex-president Jair Bolsonaro (67) caused damage of at least three million reais (around CHF 530,000) in the Chamber of Deputies alone. However, the sum of the preliminary estimate only refers to destroyed furniture, window panes and computers that could be replaced, the Chamber of Deputies announced on Tuesday.
The value of the destroyed and stolen works of art, on the other hand, cannot yet be estimated. The attackers had broken into not only the Chamber of Deputies, but also the seat of government and the Supreme Court, rioting in the offices and boardrooms. No estimates are available for these buildings.
The radical Bolsonaro supporters briefly took control of the control centers of the most important state authorities in the South American country on Sunday. Security forces took hours to get the situation under control. (SDA)
