Because of lush Christmas lights

The Borchart family’s Christmas lights are well known in the region.
Christmas is the time of traditions. This is also the case with the Borchart family from the German town of Delmenhorst near Lower Saxony. Every year they let their house and garden shine with 60,000 lights. The Christmas attraction is now well known throughout the region.
But not everyone enjoys the lights. The lighting is a thorn in the side of the activists of the radical climate collective «Last Generation». Borcharts recently received mail from them. “They produce light pollution with their unnecessary Christmas lights and waste electricity,” write the activists in a letter they sent to the couple.
“We will not kneel before them”
But the activists, who are known for their adhesive tape protests, don’t leave it at that. Below they hit harder tones and even threatened the couple. “Otherwise, it could be that nocturnal actions carried out by whoever lead to their e-waste being switched off and disposed of!” The couple have until December 5 to remove the lighting.
But neither of them would dream of obeying the activists. “I’m pissed off, I can’t understand why you want to destroy something so beautiful,” says Martina Borchert to “Bild”. Her husband Sven Borchert is also combative: “We will not kneel before them”.
The couple have already placed additional motion detectors on their property and filed a complaint with the police. This determines because of coercion and examines the letter for its authenticity. According to “Bild”, the house would be closely monitored by the police in the next few days. (ced)
