The 28-year-old was with several dogs in Caterham, south of London, the police said on Friday. A second woman, who has no connection to the fatality, was slightly injured.
In total, the officers picked up eight dogs at the popular Gravelly Hill destination. It is not about prohibited dog breeds, the owners of the animals have been informed. It was initially unclear whether the woman was attacked by one or more dogs on Thursday afternoon.
How many dogs a dog sitter is allowed to walk at the same time is decided by the individual municipalities. It is recommended that there are no more than four animals at a time, with one leading insurer accepting up to six dogs.
