Was only four years old: Emily died on New Year’s Day.
For Emily († 4) from Bünde in North Rhine-Westphalia (D), any help comes too late on New Year’s Day. The girl dies. This despite the fact that her parents had taken her to the doctor several times since December 27 – and were always sent home after a brief examination.
All the medical facilities said the four-year-old was not an emergency and that she had something harmless and therefore did not treat her immediately, Focus reports.
When the parents go to the doctor again on January 1st, it is too late. The little girl died on the same day in the Herford Clinic. A few days later, the mother reported on Facebook: “This death could have been prevented if we had been noticed.”
Cause of death is under investigation
More detailed information about the course of events is not yet known. The police are now investigating. In Germany there is an acute shortage of staff in the healthcare sector. The clinic itself promises that the case should be processed “completely and comprehensibly”.
The exact cause of the girl’s death is not yet known. An autopsy was initiated. (lrc)
