Franco Galvan M. († 53), a landscape gardener from Austin, Texas, was attacked by a swarm of bees on Thursday.
As the “image” reports, M. hung on a tree with a harness, under him was a ladder. Suddenly the landscape gardener bumped into a nest. In a matter of seconds, countless bees swarmed out of the nest and pounced on the gardener. Out of shock, he pushed the ladder away from under him, so he no longer had a chance to avoid the stitches.
Two of his work colleagues still tried to save M. from the attack, but they had no chance. Because they were also attacked by the bees, they finally had to abandon their rescue operation and leave their work colleagues to fend for themselves.
Local residents are said to have known about the nest, but did nothing about it
A witness reported that there were so many bees that M. was completely bitten by them. The attack is said to have lasted ten minutes.
When the fire brigade finally arrived, they managed to drive away the aggressive bees with a water hose. But she couldn’t help M. anymore. He was already dead then.
As a neighbor says to the regional broadcaster “KXAN-TV”, the attack could easily have been prevented. According to him, the residents of the house knew about the bee’s nest but failed to do anything about it because there had never been any problems before.
M. leaves behind a wife, two children and his grandchildren. His family is devastated. The widow writes on Facebook: “I miss you so much. You will always be in my heart. I know you’re in a better place in heaven.” (ced)
