Shock for the German lottery millionaire Chico: gangsters have stolen from Dortmund.
Lottery multi-millionaire Kürsat Y. (42), nicknamed “Chico”, was in a patronizing mood after winning. The man from the German city of Dortmund paid part of the sum for expensive sports cars and luxury clothing. However, he never lost sight of his finances. When he checked his bank balance this week, Chico was shocked. For once, a five-digit sum was missing.
The money had been withdrawn with his bank card – but in Frankfurt am Main. “I was at a loss, didn’t understand anything. I’ve never been there,” quoted “Bild” the shocked Dortmunder.
What happened? Shortly after the turn of the year, Chico stayed in his Turkish homeland, where a documentary about his new life in wealth is being filmed. He wanted to withdraw cash in Istanbul, “but the machine swallowed my card. To this day I don’t know why,” says the 42-year-old.
10,000 euros in four hours just gone
The Dortmunder Sparkasse promised him a new bank card after the incident – but it never arrived. Chico assumes that the new card must have been stolen in the mail – together with the PIN letter. The card thieves only needed four hours on Friday night to debit a total of 10,000 euros from the account.
“It couldn’t have happened otherwise,” Chico is certain. “I’m just glad that a maximum of 5,000 euros can be withdrawn from my account a day,” continued the lottery winner.
On Friday morning, Chico noticed that something was wrong, had the card blocked and reported it to the Dortmund police. (nad)
