A major strike is planned at Berlin Airport on Wednesday.
Bad news for travelers: According to the Verdi union, a day-long strike is planned at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport on Wednesday. This reports the “image”.
“The strike will take place all day long at the beginning of the morning shift and will end late in the evening,” the union said in a statement. In addition to ground handling services and the airport company, aviation security is also affected.
35,000 passengers and 300 flights affected
Accordingly, nothing will work at Berlin Airport. “Passengers must expect severe delays and flight cancellations.” All air traffic to and from Berlin is expected to be affected by the strike.
According to the airport company, it must be assumed that no regular passenger flights can take place on Wednesday. 300 take-offs and landings would have been planned, with a total of 35,000 passengers. All partners at the airport have been informed about the all-day strike.
The strike is a consequence of collective bargaining talks, which have so far been unsuccessful. The employees of the ground handling services and the airport company should therefore earn 500 euros more per month. Verdi is also demanding that the collective agreement be extended to twelve months. (dzc)
