According to the police in Nepal, a passenger plane with 22 people on board is missing. The machine disappeared from radar on Sunday morning. Air traffic control lost contact with the Twin Otter machine shortly before 10 a.m., police spokesman Bishnu Kumar KC told the German Press Agency.
The plane of the Nepalese airline Tara Air was with 19 passengers and three crew members on the way from Pokhara – a popular tourist destination around 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu – to Jomsom. According to the “Kathmandu Post”, there are 13 Nepali, four Indians, two Germans and three crew members in the machine.
“We are trying to locate the possible area where the plane could be,” a Tara Air spokesman told AFP. A spokesman for the Nepalese Interior Ministry said two helicopters had been dispatched to search for the plane. However, the visibility in the area is very poor. “The bad weather will probably hinder the search operation.” (SDA/AFP)
