The planned blitzkrieg failed. It’s been almost three months now. The Ukrainian army is still holding the position and pushing back the Russians.
The British military intelligence service is assuming that Moscow has suffered severe losses in eastern Ukraine, which is why the offensive has “lost momentum”. The Russian battle plan is “significantly behind schedule,” according to intelligence sources.
Out of necessity, Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin (69) is apparently now sending his secret weapon to the front. The BMPT armored support vehicle. Nickname: «Terminator». This is reported by the “image”.
«Terminator» was presented at the May 9 parade
The vehicle got its fearsome nickname because the BMPT can take out five targets at once. At least that’s what the Russians claim.
So far, according to Russia, the “Terminator” has been used once in Syria and has otherwise only been presented at military parades. Most recently on May 9, when Putin held a grand parade in honor of the victory over Nazi Germany.
Machine guns, anti-tank missiles and grenade launchers on board
The colossus weighs 47 tons, is heavily armored and armed to the teeth. The task of the BMPT is to support the tanks at the front. The «Terminator» is equipped for this. Machine guns, anti-tank missiles, grenade launchers and a machine gun are available to the crew of five.
There are also several sensors and knives with which the targets can be precisely targeted. The BMPT has 1000 hp, can reach 65 km/h and has a range of 550 kilometers.
Officially, Russia owns 20 such vehicles. How many Putin is now sending to Ukraine is unclear. Mass production was planned. But this plan failed. Experts doubt whether the «Terminator» is really a killer machine. They estimate that its primary purpose is to demonstrate Russia’s strength and instill fear in the enemy. It is completely unclear whether the armored vehicle really works properly.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army has apparently made further gains in the region around the city of Kharkiv in the north-east of the country. Soldiers from the 127th brigade had “driven out the Russians and recaptured the state border,” said the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army was preparing for increased Russian attacks in the eastern Donbass region.
According to Kiev, the Ukrainian troops succeeded in recapturing the areas north of Kharkiv after a counter-offensive. Russia is withdrawing its units from the region and relocating them to the Donbass for a new offensive towards Luhansk, said Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych.
Russians continue their attacks
Ukraine is preparing for “new attack attempts” by the Russian army in the Donbass, aimed at “increasing their movements in southern Ukraine,” President Zelenskyy said in a video message on Sunday evening. According to Kiev, one goal of the Russian troops is to encircle the regional capital, Severodonetsk.
The Russian army also continued its attacks in western Ukraine. Four Russian missiles hit military infrastructure in the Lviv region near the border with Poland on Sunday, according to regional governor Maxym Kosytsky. According to the information, there were no victims. (jmh/AFP)
