Volodymyr Zelensky cleans up his own ranks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy (44) has announced personnel changes in the government and in the regions. Some decisions have already been made, others would be made on Tuesday. That’s what Selenski said in his evening speech.
Apparently, the layoffs are about corruption. Because after allegations of corruption against a deputy minister who had already resigned and dubious practices in the Ministry of Defense became known, Zelenski had already declared that he would not tolerate corruption.
Selenski rearranges
Zelenski makes it clear: “We have already made – some today, some tomorrow – personnel decisions for managers at various levels in the ministries and other central government agencies, in the regions and in the law enforcement system.”
The deputy attorney general submits his resignation after a scandal surrounding a trip abroad. According to Ukraine Pravda, Kiril Timoshenko (33) went on vacation to Spain over the New Year. It’s costing him his job now.
Holiday scandals will end
According to reports, the head of the military administration of the Kyiv region, Alexei Kuleba, will take over the post. The newspaper also claims to know that the holders of state posts in the Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will resign.
Volodymyr Selenksi also takes action after several holiday scandals. Ivanna Plantovskaya, press spokeswoman for the Ukrainian border guards in Odessa, was vacationing in Europe. She cheerfully posted photos on Instagram – as if there were no war.
Now Selenski makes it clear: “There is a policy decision by the National Security and Defense Council on foreign travel by officials. This applies to all central government officials and various other levels of local government.” This applies to law enforcement officials, representatives of the people, prosecutors and everyone who works for the state.
“Rest off duty”
The President of Ukraine says: «If you want to rest now, you will rest outside of public service. Officials can no longer travel abroad for vacation or other non-governmental purposes.” (eu)
