Engjëll Gërxhaliu models, plays football and makes music.
He plays football for FC Bern, is a professional model and dreams of representing Kosovo at the Eurovision Song Contest. Engjëll Gërxhaliu (16) is a jack of all trades. In the “Fol Shqip Show” he tells about his story, his talents and his plans, as reported by “Albora”, a news site for the Albanian-speaking diaspora in Switzerland.
Gërxhaliu was born and grew up in Bern. However, his family roots are in Kosovo, in the old town of Vushtrri, which is why he is fluent in Albanian.
He wants to work particularly hard for one of his talents: “At the moment I’m fully concentrating on the music,” he says. “I’ve been making music since I was 12 years old.”
“Rap needs to change”
The young man has already published his first project. Namely the rap song «Selavi». “I shot the music video in the beautiful city of Prizren,” he says. When it comes to the texts, it is important to him not to use curses or insults. That is what is special about his style. He doesn’t like the “dissing” that is known in the rap scene, i.e. putting someone down. That only leads to difficulties. “Rap has to change,” he demands. Curses and insults should be banned from the music.
However, he is aware of the uncertainty in the music industry. That’s why Gërxhaliu already has a back-up plan: “I really like the physiotherapy,” he says. Through football he has a close connection to the sport and to the body. “If I can’t do it any other way, I can always be a successful physical therapist.” (hey)
