They are small, manoeuvrable, fast and are used in the Ukraine war: Delfast e-bikes. The manufacturer of the bicycles is now making it public that its two-wheelers are fighting against Russian tanks.
Company founder Daniel Tonkopi shares two pictures of his e-bikes on social networks. They are two-wheelers with large batteries – and permanently mounted boxes for NLAW anti-tank guided missiles.
The Velos used by the Ukrainian defenders were modified to carry the NLAW (Next Generation Light Anti-Armor Weapons) missiles. The rockets are specially designed so that a single human can destroy a tank with them.
The rockets are even designed in such a way that they can be carried by the soldiers themselves. But with the e-bike, the weapon, which weighs around 12.5 kilograms, can be transported more easily over long distances. The range of the rocket is around 800 meters.
80 km/h and 300 km range
The e-bike also guarantees that the soldier can get away quickly after being shot down. The vehicles are more like motorcycles in terms of their speed, as they can reach a top speed of 80 km/h. Their range is around 300 kilometers. (eu)
